1-800-Google

Google finally launched the Google Voice Local Search yesterday!

In the US, 411 is the phone number for local directory assistance, but it's pretty expensive (more than $1). 1-800-FREE-411 is a free service that uses speech recognition to process your request and ads to monetize it.

UnPlug : grab any kind of media from web!

UnPlug in action on a page in YouTube!

I recently came across a cool extension for firefox called UnPlug! UnPlug scans web pages and tells you where media players are getting their data from, and displays it as a simple hyperlink in most cases, you can then follow the simple download link to save the media file.

UnPlug is an extension which lets you save video and audio which is embedded on a webpage - it's a video download tool.

Best Computer case mod i have ever seen!

It's not often you get to see two obsessive mod cultures properly mashed up together like this!

Centrefold Guitar!

This one rocks!

According to the DeVillian Guitar company, this portability doesn't come at the expense of quality, with the guitar supposedly staying in tune throughout the whole contortion process, and high-end components used to ensure you'll get your money's worth. We certainly have to hope that's the case, as we'll have to drop a full $3,370 for the pleasure of tossing one of these in the backpack.

An aprilfools joke from ThinkGeek

The Vilcus Plug Dactyloadapter allows anyone to quickly and easily test the working condition of any wall socket. Simply insert the Vilcus into the socket in question... insert two fingers and the use becomes apparent instantly.

But this is only scratching the surface of the device's utility!

Worlds first Open source Car!

A group of Dutch researchers recently took the wraps off what they claim to be the world's first open source car, rolling out their "c,mm,n" vehicle (pronounced "common") at the AutoRAI car show in Amsterdam for all to see and potentially modify. While it's not clear if that open sourceness extends to the whole thing running on Linux, you will be able to get your hands on the vehicle's complete technical drawings and blueprints, and of course submit your own tweaks and improvements for others to do as they please with. As it currently stands, the car keeps things environmentally-friendly with a hydrogen engine, and apparently lets "c,mm,n" drivers share traffic information with one another, although that would seem to be be a less than effective solution until folks start modding these en masse.

Google introduces "Gmail Paper"... for April Fools!

Google today launced Gmail Paper offering you to print a hard copy of your mails free of cost! (A very innovative aprilfools joke as they usually do)
Read more about Gmail Paper here.

The statement for which anybody would fall :)

Everyone loves Gmail. But not everyone loves email, or the digital era. What ever happened to stamps, filing cabinets, and the mailman? Well, you asked for it, and it’s here. We’re bringing it back.
