Know your Java @ GIDS

Posting this from my mobile live right from the J N Tata Auditorium, Indian institute of science, Bangalore where the Great Indian Developer Summit is going on this week. First session was an interesting talk on CLOUD COMPUTING. The second session called ''Know your Java'' by Venkat Subramanian was probably one of the best sessions i have attended till date. It was a highly interactive session and Venkat used a very unique style of presentation which kept the audience enthralled till the end. Venkat also gave away some books to people who voluntreered,

Saraswathi Pooja at Home

Goddess Saraswathi

Today we celebrated Saraswathi pooja at home with the presence of a couple of friends and some neighbors. We somehow managed to do the pooja in spite of the power which kept toggling on and off frequently. The evening was very graceful and calm, i wish we could have it the same every evening. Me and my friends even enchanted some beautiful songs and shlokas on Goddess Saraswathi praying her to bless everyone.

A small set of instruments at home

(Just 1 mridangam, 1 khanjira, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 electric guitar, 1 violin, 1 shruthi box, 1 distortion box, 1 keyboard, 4 shakers, 1 twitter and a mixer, microphone & headphones for recording and mixing)

Saraswathi Pooja at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan

Today we celebrated a Grand Saraswathi Pooja at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan - Bangalore, the institute where i learn Carnatic Vocal under Vidushi Smt. H. V. Gayathri and Mridangam under Vidwan Sri. T. A. S. Mani.

The program had a pleasant start with Pooja of Saraswathi, the goddess of Knowledge! Then came up the beautiful Invocation Song "Dehi Dehi Shaaradaa" which was sung by 8 students of Carnatic Vocal class including me.

The program turned out more meaningful with the speech of our respected chief guest, Hon'ble Justice Smt. Manjula Chellur, Judge, Karnataka High Court. The speech was and motivational in all senses when she mentioned anyone could spend money and become popular in this world, but to become an artiste, one has to be gifted and artists are those special ones chosen by the almighty to spread happiness in this world!

The program continued with our respected chief guest presenting the Diploma Certificates to the students who had passed the exams held in July this year since this was also our Convocation Day as celebrated every year.

It was great to be part of this program and i look forward for the next program to be held most probably in February 2009 on the account of Founder's Day at Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan.

Orkut's look revamped!

India shows thumbs down to M$ open format

India has done a great job by deciding to vote a "NO" to Microsoft's OOXML(Open Office Extensible Mark Up Language) document format against the ODF(Open Document Format) proposed by a lot other companies who believe in openness. This war of formats has been going on for several months now. The voting will be held at the International Standards Organisation (ISO) in Geneva on September 2 and about 123 counties are participating in the vote.
